About Our Food Safety Seminars

Barclay Brand Ferdon offers two food safety training seminars, each focusing on a different area that all employees in the food and beverage industry should be aware of. They are four hours in length and include:

Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)

Passed in December 2010 by the United States Senate, the FSMA impacts the entire food supply chain. It allows the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to enforce system-based prevention utilizing modern food safety systems, which make all involved in the global food chain responsible and accountable for food safety. This seminar covers the following topics and more:

  • How the FSMA law affects regulatory affairs
  • The role of the FDA and USDA in the U.S. and what they are authorized to inspect
  • The government’s authority and implications of plant personnel’s behavior before, during, and after an inspection
  • Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002
  • Food defense programs
  • Maintaining site security for grounds and buildings
